German Nuclear Power Plants Global Leaders Again in 2009

Berlin, 31.03.2010

Six out of ten of the best production results worldwide in 2009 were achieved by German nuclear power plants - this is one plant more than in the preceding year. The fact that German nuclear power plants occupy the top global positions when it comes to the production of electricity has been proof for decades of the plants? performance, availability and reliability.

The Isar 2 nuclear power plant with an annual electricity production of 12.13 billion kWh again took second place as it did in 2008. The Brokdorf nuclear power plant maintained its position in third place with an output of 12.05 billion kWh. The other German plants that made the top ten are Philippsburg 2 (6th place), Neckarwestheim 2 (7th place), Grohnde (8th place) and Emsland (10th place).
