Objective approach to energy debate urgently needed: Strangulation strategy endangers German energy position

34 percent of the entire population are in favor of the continued use of nuclear power in Germany. A further 34 percent disapprove of this. This is the result of a representative survey carried out at the beginning of the year by the Allensbach Opinion Poll Institute commissioned by the German Atomic Forum.
"The opinion in favor of nuclear power has improved steadily over the past few years. Based on the results of this survey, it can no longer be claimed that the majority of the population is in favor of a phase-out", explains Dr. Walter Hohlefelder, President of the German Atomic Forum e. V.
In the survey, 13 percent of the population consider themselves to be fervent and 21 percent moderate supporters of the continued use of nuclear power. These are faced by 18 percent who claim to be fervent and 16 percent moderate opponents. One remarkable finding is that 27 percent of the population have no clear position on this matter.
